Sleep apnea

I'm 26 and have been gaining for a few years now, going from 165 lbs to 210 since the start of 2022. The last few months, I've been having trouble getting restful sleep. One possible cause is sleep apnea, and I'm a bit anxious about it. I have a sleep study planned, so that should tell me for sure. I'm fairly young and just overweight so it'd be a bit surprising, but I guess we'll have to see. Perhaps I'm just not getting enough exercise. If it is sleep apnea though, I'm debating whether I should keep gaining.

For those who have sleep apnea, when were you diagnosed, and how is it living with it?

Some people have sleep apnea regardless of their weight. I am one of them. Like you, I was having restless nights. I was much smaller at the time.

I will say that it has gotten worse since I've gained weight. However, since getting a CPAP machine, I sleep much better. It takes some time to get used to, but it does wonders.

When I was smaller, I could get away with not wearing it. Now I need to wear it every night. So that's something you should consider.

Good to consider. I might just need to try it out and determine from there if it's worth it. I'd probably get used to it, but I can imagine it being a bit limiting (which, hey, could be a turn-on).

Sleep apnea

I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea after doing a sleep test. I’ve been using a cpap for a few weeks and I’m starting to get used to it and feel the benefit of better sleep. I’m kinda sure my gain caused it.

I've had sleep apnea all my life but I was only recently diagnosed cuz my deviated septum. I plan on getting a surgery to fix it but I cant afford to change it. Maybe you could tho if that was your issue.

Sleep apnea

Huh, I never heard of that before. I am only familiar with insomnia which I've thought I had for the longest time.

I didn't think my sleeping issues were that big of an issue until I got written up for sleeping at work not so long ago. These days I assure my trauma and depression are a contributor to my restless nights.
